Phenomenal Women of Focus…It’s time!

We celebrated March’s Women’s History Month with a BANG! I, along with two other phenomenal women, were asked to share our stories at Angie Brown’s, The Best is Yet To Come Coaching women’s event, in hopes of inspiring other women to reach for their dreams. Check out all the pictures!IMG_3428

Spend the evening networking with other Phenomenal Women!  Meet and award winning textile and fiber artist, a notable author and the first African-American woman to serve in the Ohio Senate.

Listen to them share their stories, as well as, encourage you while on your journey.  Phenomenal Women of Focus has been noted as one of the best networking groups in the city by other Phenomenal Women.

Carole Gary Staples is an award winning textile and fiber artist who has been designing with fabric and creating art for over thirty five years. Born and raised in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, her artistic training began at a very early age when she was selected to attend the prestigious Tam O’ Shanter art program at Carnegie Mellon University.

Carole’s work has been featured and sold widely in venues throughout the mid-western and northeastern United States. Her works have appeared in exhibitions at the City College of New York, and the Historical Society of Washington, DC, and are included in several travelling exhibitions, including “Textural Rhythms: Quilting the Jazz Traditions,” from the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center. A resident of West Chester, her work is also a part of the permanent collection of the American Folk Art Museum in New York City.

KIMBERLY MITCHELL, author of Loving with Purpose, stays focused on helping people create better relationships by raising their self-esteem and standards. As a writer and presenter, she shares techniques and tools that offer immediate and long-lasting benefits. Her advice covers an array of topics, including dating, marriage, family concerns, and other issues that occur in relationships. She bases her philosophy on conscious loving, higher self-awareness, and making choices that work. As a student of life, she believes that good or bad, personal experience it the best teacher. www.lovingwithpurpose.org

Rhine McLin, a Dayton native Rhine McLin has a long history of active community involvement, which attest to her commitment to public service.  In 2002 she became the third African-American Mayor and the first female Mayor in the city’s history.  She previously served six years in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1988 to 1994, and was then elected State Senator for the 5th Ohio Senate District, serving Montgomery and Miami counties. When elected in 1994, she became the first African-American women to serve in the Ohio Senate.  In 1998, McLin was elected by her peers to serve in leadership as the Minority Whip.
