Loving With Purpose

The Journeys You Take | The Choices You Make

“If you’re counting on someone else for support, then you…

…have to question if you found your independence yet.

  • Do you offer any of yourself for that support?
  • Are you a contributing entity in those relationships?
  • Do you recognize the opportunity you are given, when leaning on someone for what you need?

There are times when we all need something or someone to help us through, but it only works when you’re a supportive, contributing, positive part of that connection.

Life is a challenge for everyone in one way or another. Be proactive in your relationships by giving something of yourself back.” ~ Loving with Purpose

Loving with Purpose, “So What’s It About?

This was the question asked over and over at my most recent events; an expo and a fundraiser.

If you’ve ever wondered what my book, Loving with Purpose, is about, let me tell you…

Because of the title I chose (Loving with Purpose), many people believe it might be a religious book. It is not. It is a relationship book.

A book about the relationship you have with yourself and with others.

With that said, I do share small pieces of God in my book, (e.g. Chapter 12: Touchy Topics), but mainly you will read about you and your relationships; a self-help book aimed at helping people find peace and happiness within themselves and with each other.

This does not mean I won’t share religious viewpoints on my website…in my own way. Mostly, from the words of spiritual and religious leaders who I’ve come to respect and trust. I believe, without a doubt, that my life, that the relationship I have with myself, is totally defined by the ways of God.

For this reason, I share what I find helpful, to me and for others, on my website, Loving with Purpose, and other media outlets. God is a part of Loving with Purpose. It has to be…since my belief system is based on His words. Sure, I don’t do anything to perfection; no one does, but I learn more every day and want to share what I find useful.

Although I knew some people didn’t really understand what the book was about, through my most recent expo and fundraiser events, I learned that for certain. I needed to let people know.

I felt it necessary to share the fact that Loving with Purpose, my book,  is not based on religion. It is, however, based on personal awareness, self-worth, and success…and although I talk very little about God in the book, I know He is a big part of our journey.

So, that’s it! I just wanted to give more clarity to you about the purpose of my book, Loving with Purpose. I hope you take the time to pick up a copy and check it out for yourself.

If you want to learn more about Loving with Purpose, take a look at the Table of Contents, or peek under About Me to see what I have to say for myself. :)

Valuable Lesson from Joel Today

“What about the things that don’t make sense? Ten years ago when the planes crashed into the World Trade Center, in Pennsylvania, and Washington nearly 3000 people tragically lost their lives.
It doesn’t make sense for a baby to be born with a birth injury; I can’t explain that. It doesn’t make sense for a drunk driver to end someone’s life. It doesn’t make sense for a good person to come down with a terminal illness. What happens when we can’t find a file to put it in? Here’s the answer: everyone of us needs to create a file in our thinking called an ‘I don’t understand it’ file; and when things come up that don’t make sense, that you can’t figure out, instead of getting frustrated and confused, simply put it in your ‘I don’t understand it’ file and leave it alone.’ Some things God doesn’t want you to know. Instead of putting a question mark, put a period.”~ Joel Osteen

“There’s a difference between forgiving and forgetting…

…If I don’t forgive, then I’m in prison; maybe not physically, but in a spiritual and psychological one.” ~ Guest on Oprah

Excerpt from Loving with Purpose ~ FRIEND OR FOE?

You can only have a good friend if you are a good friend. Don’t allow your friends to be taken so easily from you. Plan a night out once or twice a month; go to dinner, a movie, or bowling with your girlfriends. Not only will you have a good time, you will be a better mate when you spend some quality time with friends. The time away also gives you and your man an opportunity to miss each other. There have been many times when I’ve gone out with the girls and missed my husband by the end of the night. When I’m out clubbing with friends, the time away makes me realize how much I love my husband, and I’m glad I’m not hanging out every weekend anymore. Don’t misunderstand, I thoroughly enjoy my time with good friends; getting out and participating in girl-talk and laughter is a real treat; however, spending time at a club also makes me more thankful to have him in my life. He is a safe and loving person to come home to.

It’s very important that you choose friends who have a positive influence on you. Having optimistic, fun-loving friends will help you strike a healthy balance. Choose your friends with as careful criteria as you do a mate, and then tend to those friendships with as much care. The job of a friend can be complicated at times, but rewarding most of the time. Being a good friend requires guidelines, support, proper influence, patience, and encouragement. If your friends are supportive that you’re in a relationship, and they don’t sabotage your efforts to continue it, then you know you’ve chosen wisely….Read more

…Friends are there to encourage and inspire you. They should not persuade you to be unethical or place harsh judgments on you or those you love. If unsolicited comments are coming your way, stay focused, listen, and remind your friend of the boundaries in your relationship. You can’t expect everyone to get along all of the time, and everyone will have strong feelings that they want to share, but you should have some basic limits on what is acceptable in your friendships, and what is not. If you’re positive about your friendships, and choose friends with a similar attitude, then everything will work out fine…
