Society is changing rapidly. If you think back just a short time ago, you can see how different the world has become in just the last few years. The big issues in schools, in my time, were whether a child was chewing gum, cutting class, or fighting with another kid in school. Of course, there were other, more severe, issues, but they weren’t the majority. Today, you hear more about drug and alcohol abuse, guns, assaults, incest, and rape. With so much more opportunity for kids to go down the wrong path, you probably have concerns about your children’s future.

I wanted to take this day…not to write, but to remember. My mother was a big part of my life and I miss her every single day since she left over eleven years ago. Just as we all do, she had her challenges, almost giving up at times, but she was genuinely a beautiful person. Today is her birthday and I wanted to take a moment to say,

Loving with Purpose: Who I thought of…

When I started writing Loving with Purpose, I had to consider my target audience, so I could speak directly to someone. I knew I was writing to the young woman, eighteen to thirty, who needed inspiration and flexible rules; ones she could apply to herself and her relationships. I wanted her to improve her life, by helping her connect with the idea that she is unique and special…and she should expect to be treated as such.

I also knew that this transition did not come without self-realization and compromise. Change required her to make a return on her investment.
